Abstract
1. The ratio of male to female was 1.3 : 1. In the age distribution, most patients were in their fifties. Others were in their seventies, sixties, and forties in order of frequency.
2. Cerebral infarction was the most frequent(72.83%) and cerebral hemorrhage, transient ischemic attack, and subarachnoid hemorrhage in order were frequent.
The affected sites were basal ganglia in most cases, thalamus, cerebral lobes and pons in order of frequency.
3. The season of onset was spring, winter, summer or fall in order of frequency.
Most cases were below 160mmH of systolic blood pressure and between 95 and 120mmHg of diastolic blood pressure.
4. As to family history, hytensive blood pressure, CVA and diabetes mellitus in order were common.
5. When seized with attack, most patients have been emotionally agitated, laboring, getting up or resting in order of frequency.
The mentality of patients was alert(92.75%), drowsy(6.4%) or semicoma(0.8%).
6. Motor disability was the most common symptom on admission. The symptoms of dysarthria, dysphasia, dysphagia, facial palsy, headache, dizziness and dysuria in order were common.
As to defecation, dry stool type, constipation type, diarrhea type and soft stool type were cpmmon in order of frequency.
7. As to recurrence rate, most cases were first attack(74.64%). Others were 2nd(18.91%), 3rd(4.62%) and over 4th(1.81%) in order.
8. The paresis was on Rt. side(67.40%), on Lt. side(39.43%) and on both sides(1.00%) in order.
Rt. sideparesis was more frequent than Lt. side paresis on both male and female patients.
9. Hypertensive heart diseas was most common on chest X-ray. Left ventricular hypertrophy, ischemic heart diseas, atria] bradycardia, atrial tachycardia and atrial fibrillation in order were common on EKG.
10. By recovery rate,, the patients were calssified into 3 group ; fairly good recovery(28.17%), slightly good recovery(55.73%) and no recovery or aggravation(12%).
Thoses hospitalized between 2 and 4 weeks were 24.14% in ratio, between 8 and 11 weeks 20.32%, over 12 weeks 17.30%.
11. By four constitutional theory, 52.51% of the patients was Taeum-in, 28.17% Soyang-in, 19.11% Soeum-in, 0.2% Taeyang-in in order.
